....keeps the doctor away!
Well, as you can see, in Jack's case, it doesn't always work... IN fact when the doctor finally walked in at 8pm ready to admit him to The Children's hospital from the ER, Jaxon was eating his first food of the day, an apple! He told Jaxon to keep eating them, even though it didn't seem to work for him. We all had a good laugh...everyone except Jack, who just wanted to go home!
He was not impressed to hear that after being in the ER for 10 hours that he was going upstairs for 2 sleepovers at the hospital. Good thing we brought bear blankie with us, or that would have made for even a longer day for Mommy. After hours or tests, lab work, ultrasounds, x-rays, and CT scans, it was determined that Jaxon had a bacterial pnemonia. They did cultures, but just to be sure they kept him inpatient so that they could treat the infection with antibiotics through his IV tube. After midnight blood draws, and numerous vital checks, two days later he was discharged from the hospital, just hours after Daddy made it home on emergency leave. As you can see above once he was moved out of isolation, he made the best of it, and enjoyed the new toys the play room had to offer.
Although Jack is home and back to school now, he's still not 100%. He has his good days and his not so good days. After another trip to the walk-in last Friday night, they started him now on a non-dairy, non fruit and vegetable diet as well. The intent of this is to eliminate gas which causes pressure build up on his lungs and into his shoulder/armpit area! Try telling this boy there are foods and drinks he just cannot have. It doesn't sit real well with him. Until some of his other symptoms go away, we will have to continue to do what we are doing....although he's not impressed that he can't even have his favorite snack.... an apple! After all, his first doctor told him to keep on eating them! :)
